ABOUT THE GREEK FREAK
Established in 2017, The Greek Freak began as a family-owned Greek takeout restaurant, founded by the Stathas family in Ajax, Ontario. With a vision to bring high-quality, authentic Greek cuisine to the community, the journey was met with significant challenges. Despite our setbacks, the first location officially opened its doors in August 2018.
Quickly gaining recognition as one of the top Greek cuisine destinations in Durham, The Greek Freak built a loyal customer base. However, like many small businesses, financial hurdles persisted. In March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic forced a three-month closure. Faced with the choice of closing or persevering, we chose to fight for our dream.
In July 2020, we restructured our Ajax location into a takeout-focused restaurant, adapting to the challenges of the time. With the unwavering support of the Ajax community, we overcame obstacles, and within a year, sales quadrupled, cementing The Greek Freak as a local staple.
Expanding The Greek Freak Brand
With the Ajax location thriving, expansion became the next step. In summer 2021, we opened our second location at Wilson & Bathurst, which quickly gained momentum and became a major success within six months, further establishing our brand across the GTA.
Building on this success, 2024 marked another milestone with the opening of two additional locations—one in Peterborough and another in Brooklin (Whitby area). As demand for our authentic Greek cuisine continues to grow, so does our commitment to quality and excellence.
